Consent to the collection and processing of personal data

Pursuant to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 94-V of 21 May 2013 “On Personal Data and Its Protection”.

I, a user of the Astana Bilim Academy educational platform, when registering, purchasing a professional development course and/or creating an account on the Astana Bilim Academy educational platform, freely, of my own will and in my own interest, give Astana Bilim Academy LLP (hereinafter — the Academy) my consent to the collection and processing of my personal data for the purpose of organising and delivering training.

1. Categories of personal data

I consent to the collection and processing of the following personal data:

  • surname, first name, patronymic (if any);
  • individual identification number (IIN);
  • mobile phone number;
  • email address;
  • region and locality of residence and/or employment;
  • name of the organisation I work for;
  • position held;
  • information relating to completion of the professional development course, including:
    • the name of the selected course;
    • the registration date and the study period;
    • records of progress through the learning materials;
    • interim and final assessment results;
    • course completion records;
    • details of the certificate issued, including its number and date of issue;
  • information contained in documents and data I provide to the Academy in connection with the purchase and completion of the course, to the extent necessary for the Academy to perform its obligations.

2. Purposes of collection and processing

My personal data is collected and processed for the following purposes:

  • registering me as a participant of a professional development course;
  • creating and administering my account on the Astana Bilim Academy educational platform;
  • granting access to the selected course, learning materials, video lectures, assignments and assessment materials;
  • identifying the participant and keeping records of course progress;
  • carrying out interim and final assessment of learning outcomes;
  • preparing, generating and issuing the certificate of course completion;
  • maintaining the register of issued certificates;
  • transferring the required information to authorised state bodies and state information systems in the field of education, in the cases and to the extent provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and by the requirements applicable to providers of teacher professional development;
  • organising post-course support for participants where provided for by the course programme and the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • sending organisational and service notifications related to the training, including information about:
    • access being granted to the course;
    • the deadlines and procedure for completing the training;
    • learning results;
    • the certificate being ready;
    • registration and recording of the certificate;
    • post-course support;
  • contacting me by telephone, email, SMS and messaging apps on matters directly related to the purchase and completion of the course;
  • performing the Academy’s contractual, accounting, tax and other obligations provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • handling enquiries, applications, requests and complaints related to the provision of educational services.

3. Operations with personal data

This consent is given for the Academy to carry out the operations with personal data necessary for the purposes stated above, including collection, systematisation, accumulation, storage, clarification, modification, supplementation, use, transfer in the cases provided for by this consent and by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, anonymisation, blocking and destruction of personal data.

Personal data may be processed both by automated means and without such means, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

4. Transfer of personal data to third parties

I consent to the transfer of my personal data to third parties solely to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes stated in this consent, including:

  • authorised state bodies and organisations in the field of education;
  • state information systems used to record and register information about teachers’ completion of professional development courses and the certificates issued;
  • organisations and services that support the operation of the Academy’s educational platform, information systems and means of communication, provided that the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on personal data and its protection are observed;
  • other persons in the cases expressly provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Personal data is transferred only to the extent necessary for the relevant purpose.

5. Retention and processing period

This consent remains in force for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of collection and processing of personal data and for the Academy to perform its contractual and statutory obligations, as well as for the document and record retention periods established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Once the processing purposes have been achieved, personal data is subject to destruction or anonymisation, except where its further storage is provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

6. Withdrawal of consent

I have the right to withdraw this consent in the manner provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, by sending a corresponding application to Astana Bilim Academy LLP in written or electronic form.

I understand that withdrawal of consent is not permitted where such withdrawal contradicts the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan or where an obligation to the Academy remains outstanding.

Withdrawal of consent may make further provision of educational services impossible if processing of the relevant personal data is objectively necessary in order to provide them.

7. Confirmation of consent

I confirm that:

  • I have read this Consent before providing my personal data;
  • I provide the stated information voluntarily and confirm that it is accurate;
  • I understand the purposes and conditions of the collection and processing of my personal data;
  • I agree to receive organisational and service messages directly related to the purchase and completion of the professional development course;
  • I understand that consent to receive advertising and marketing messages not directly related to the purchased course is given separately and voluntarily.

Ticking the box “I consent to the collection and processing of personal data”, pressing the corresponding button during registration or enrolment, or performing any other action provided for by the information system that confirms that consent has been given, means that I agree to the terms of this document.
