Pre-CELTA Course in English Language Teaching Methodology starts on September 1
Starting on September 1, Astana Bilim Academy will launch the professional development course “Pre-CELTA: Preparatory Course in English Language Teaching Methodology.” The course is designed for English language teachers who would like to systematize their methodological knowledge, become familiar with contemporary international approaches to English language teaching, and prepare for further study on a CELTA programme.
Instruction is provided in Kazakh, while professional terminology related to English language teaching is introduced in English.
The programme covers key areas of modern English language teaching methodology, including lesson planning and lesson structure, teaching grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, developing Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing skills, organizing learner interaction, classroom management, error correction, feedback, and professional reflection.
The course comprises 80 academic hours and is delivered fully online in a self-paced format through the Astana Bilim Academy LMS platform. Participants receive access to video lessons, learning materials, additional resources, and module mini-tests. There are no Zoom sessions, which allows participants to study at a time and pace that is convenient for them.
The recommended completion period is 2 weeks (10 working days). However, because the course is fully online and self-paced, participants may complete it in 3 weeks or follow another schedule that suits them.
The course is a professional development programme for teachers that may be taken into account for teacher attestation purposes. The educational programme has been approved in coordination with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
