Call for proposals: EWB National Conference 2026 in Tajikistan

The EWB National Conference 2026, an annual conference for English language teachers, teacher trainers, researchers, scholars, and other professionals in English Language Education, will take place on October 23–24, 2026.

The theme of the 2026 conference is:

American AI in English Language Teaching: Innovative Techniques, Technological Tools, and Future Possibilities

This year’s conference will focus on the thoughtful and responsible use of artificial intelligence in English language teaching. Participants will explore how modern technologies can support teachers while preserving the essential role of creativity, critical thinking, communication, and meaningful human interaction in education.

What to Expect

Over the two days, participants will be able to attend:

• practical workshops led by experienced educators and professionals;
• a panel discussion titled “An Honest Conversation About AI and the Future of the Profession”;
• sessions on AI tools, modern TESOL methodology, and innovative classroom practices;
• poster presentations by representatives, alumni, and partners of U.S. Government English Language programs;
• professional networking and collaboration opportunities.

Main Conference Focus Areas

Organizers invite proposals for presentations and workshops related to the following areas:

• Project-Based Learning in the era of AI;
• developing authentic language and communication skills in the AI-supported classroom;
• responsible and ethical use of AI;
• social-emotional learning, inclusion, and the role of AI in the modern classroom;
• developing capable, creative, and confident learners;
• modern TESOL methodology, including Communicative Language Teaching, Task-Based Learning, CLIL, and other practical approaches.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to:

• English language teachers;
• teacher trainers;
• researchers;
• scholars and university instructors;
• other professionals working in English Language Education.

Applicants are expected to have at least three years of teaching experience. Previous experience presenting at local, regional, national, or online conferences is considered an advantage.

Participants should also be willing to share the knowledge and experience gained at the conference with colleagues in their schools or professional communities.

Funding Opportunities

Applicants may indicate one of the following participation options:

• Fully funded participation through the EWB Project;
• partial funding covering transportation expenses;
• partial funding covering accommodation;
• self-funded participation.

When available funding is allocated, priority may be given to educators from rural and remote areas of Tajikistan who have not previously attended an EWB National Conference.

The EWB National Conference is organized by the English Without Borders Network, a project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan and implemented by the Public Organization “Durakhshi Marifat”, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.
