Kindergartens, Schools and Colleges in Kazakhstan Can Join the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet)

Educational institutions in Kazakhstan can become part of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet), UNESCO’s international network of associated educational institutions.

ASPnet was established by UNESCO in 1953 to promote international cooperation in education and advance a culture of peace, sustainable development, global citizenship, and intercultural dialogue.

Who can join?

Despite its name, the Associated Schools Network is not limited to primary and secondary schools.

ASPnet can include educational institutions at different levels, including:

  • pre-primary educational institutions;

  • primary and secondary schools;

  • technical and vocational education and training institutions;

  • teacher education institutions.

This means that the opportunity is relevant to kindergartens, schools, and colleges in Kazakhstan.

What opportunities does UNESCO ASPnet offer?

Participation enables an educational institution to strengthen the international dimension of its work and become part of UNESCO’s global educational community.

Participating institutions can:

  • take part in international educational initiatives and projects;

  • collaborate with educational institutions in other countries;

  • exchange teaching practices and professional experience;

  • engage children and students in projects addressing global issues;

  • promote education for sustainable development and global citizenship;

  • organize activities and projects related to UNESCO’s priority areas.

What opportunities does it offer students?

Participation in the international network can also create additional opportunities for children and students.

They can participate in educational and collaborative projects, learn from peers in other countries, explore global issues, and develop communication and intercultural skills. They can also represent their educational institution, culture, and Kazakhstan within the international education community.

How can an institution join ASPnet?

Educational institutions interested in joining ASPnet should review UNESCO’s official requirements and contact the ASPnet National Coordinator in their country.

The institution can then follow UNESCO’s official application procedure to apply to join the network.

It is important to note that participation in ASPnet requires active engagement from the institution. Participants are expected to implement initiatives and projects aligned with UNESCO’s values and educational priorities.
