British Council invites teachers to become TeachingEnglish webinar speakers in 2027
The British Council has opened applications for English language teachers and teacher educators to deliver webinars on the TeachingEnglish platform in 2027. Practitioners from around the world, including Kazakhstan, are welcome to apply. The application deadline is 15 November 2026. Applicants will be informed of the selection results by 26 February 2027.
Who can apply?
Applications are welcome from English language teachers, teacher trainers, mentors, researchers and other professionals who support teacher learning and professional development. Applicants may present individually or jointly with one colleague.
There are two strands: webinars for English language teachers and webinars for teacher educators. Applicants wishing to contribute to both strands must submit a separate proposal for each.
Webinar themes
For the teacher audience, the proposed themes include:
· assessing learning;
· using digital technologies;
· using inclusive practices;
· managing the lesson;
· using multilingual practices;
· knowing the subject;
· developing 21st-century or core skills;
· climate action in language teaching;
· gender in language education.
For teacher educators, the themes are evaluating teacher competence, taking responsibility for one’s own professional development, adopting inclusive practices and managing teacher learning.
The organisers are looking for practical sessions featuring examples from classroom teaching or teacher education. Webinars should offer ideas that participants can apply in their own work and include opportunities for audience interaction.
Presentation format
Webinars for teachers last one hour, with 40–45 minutes for the presentation and 10–15 minutes for audience questions.
Webinars for teacher educators last 75 minutes. After reviewing a proposal, the organisers may offer participation in a panel discussion instead of an individual webinar.
Events take place online. Recordings are shared on YouTube and the TeachingEnglish website.
What is required to apply?
Applicants need to prepare:
· a link to a short webinar proposal video recorded according to the organisers’ guidance;
· a biography for each speaker, written in the third person and limited to 100 words;
· a webinar abstract in English, limited to 200 words, explaining what participants will learn.
Applications must be submitted through the Submit your application button on the announcement page.
Opportunities for speakers
Selected speakers can share their professional experience with an international audience, receive feedback on their presentation and obtain a TeachingEnglish presenter certificate. Some applicants with strong proposals but limited public speaking experience may be selected for a speaker mentoring programme.
