International conferences give English language teachers an opportunity to explore current research and teaching methodologies, exchange professional experience, expand their international networks, and present their own research or educational projects.
Astana Bilim Academy has prepared a selection of international conferences in ELT, TESOL, and applied linguistics. It includes conferences that are currently accepting presentation proposals, as well as major annual events whose Calls for Proposals are worth monitoring in advance.

1. IATEFL PronSIG Online Conference 2026
Theme: Global Perspectives on Pronunciation for Specific Purposes
Date: 24 October 2026
Format: Online
Proposal deadline: 14 September 2026
The conference focuses on teaching pronunciation for specific purposes. Potential areas include intelligibility, comprehensibility, fluency, pronunciation teaching in professional contexts, assessment, inclusion, and attitudes towards different accents.

2. IATEFL International Conference 2027
Dates: 6–9 April 2027
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
The IATEFL International Conference is one of the largest international events for English language teaching professionals. Each year, it brings together teachers, trainers, teacher educators, researchers, materials writers, and representatives of universities, educational organisations, and professional associations.
The programme includes presentations, workshops, panel discussions, lightning talks, and poster presentations.

3. TESOL International Convention 2027
Dates: 15–18 March 2027
Location: Houston, Texas, USA
The TESOL International Convention & Expo is one of the world’s largest professional events in English language teaching. It is suitable for teachers, researchers, teacher educators, university lecturers, curriculum developers, programme administrators, and educational leaders.

4. JALT International Conference 2026
Dates: 20–22 November 2026
Location: Nagoya, Japan
The Japan Association for Language Teaching International Conference covers language teaching, assessment, educational technology, teacher professional development, academic writing, and applied linguistics.
The Call for Proposals for 2026 has already closed. However, the official website provides access to the conference programme, speaker list, presentation titles, and descriptions of accepted sessions. 5. AAAL Conference 2027
In-person conference: 13–16 March 2027, Atlanta, USA
Virtual day: 16 April 2027, online
The American Association for Applied Linguistics Conference has a strong academic focus. It is suitable for researchers, university lecturers, master’s students, and doctoral candidates working in applied linguistics, language education, discourse, multilingualism, language policy, and assessment.

6. AsiaTEFL International Conference 2027
Dates: 2–4 July 2027, tentative
Location: Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Proposal deadline: 31 December 2026
The conference theme is:
Humanising ELT: Community, Agency and Meaningful Learning
The organisers invite teachers, university lecturers, researchers, master’s and doctoral students, and education policymakers to submit proposals.
Applicants may propose a paper presentation, practical workshop, symposium, or poster presentation. An individual submission must include a title of no more than 25 words, an abstract of 200–250 words, and a brief biography of approximately 50 words for each presenter.

7. CamTESOL Conference
CamTESOL is one of the largest annual English language teaching conferences in the Asia-Pacific region. It brings together teachers, trainers, researchers, educational leaders, and first-time presenters from different countries.

8. Korea TESOL International Conference
The Korea TESOL International Conference is held in South Korea and accepts both practical and research-based presentations across a wide range of ELT areas.

10. TESOL 2026 Virtual Convention
Dates: 20–21 November 2026
Format: Fully online
Status: Participant registration is open
The proposal submission period closed on 8 June 2026. However, teachers can still register as participants to explore current research and practices, attend presentations by international speakers, and examine the topics selected by TESOL.
The programme includes both live online sessions and on-demand recorded presentations.
The TESOL 2026 Virtual Graduate Student Forum will take place separately on 19 November 2026. It is intended for master’s students, doctoral candidates, and emerging researchers.

How to Prepare a Conference Proposal
Calls for Proposals often close 6–12 months before a conference begins. It is therefore advisable to start preparing well in advance:
- Attend a conference as a participant first.
- Review programmes and abstracts from previous years.
- Identify current topics and conference strands.
- Select a suitable conference and presentation format.
- Conduct a research project or small-scale Action Research study.
- Read publications by other authors working on your topic.
- Prepare a proposal supported by evidence and research.
- Read the submission requirements and selection criteria carefully.
- Submit your proposal before the stated deadline.
